THE JACOB FONTAINE RELIGOIUS MUSEUM
In it's new location at 5602 Northdale Drive. This remodeled 1500-square- feet house is located in Springdale Hills, this house was built in 1966. It was the home of Donald and Dorothy Edwards and their six children, who attended Austin ISD schools. A 1996 remodeling added a family room, a bath, and a deck that gives a clear view of new houses on 51st Street.
Traveling North on MLK, Jr. Blvd. leads to Tannehill Street., go West on a residential street which curves into Northdale Drive. The museum is a blue house with Jacob Fontaine Banners,
It is handicap accessible.
A CapMetro bus stop , MLK # 18, is across the street on the corner of Eastdale and Northdale Drive.
The Jacob Fontaine Religious Museum will host exhibits Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 until 4:00 p.m. (except holidays).
We welcome visitors and Group Tours, but please call (512) 480-9371 to arrange group visits.
Special events will be announced., as Austin Museum's Day is Sunday, September 20, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.
When you visit, you will find Bibles, books, church history, sheet music, newspaper articles, portraits, quilts, historic postage stamps, church hats, aprons, religious iconography , children's room and. much more.
